Next-generation gaming and entertainment has arrived in Ireland today, and its name is Xbox 360. Microsoft's next generation video games and entertainment system went on sale at 12:01am this morning as part of a ground-breaking and historic simultaneous global launch programme, and Xbox 360 fans who queued up outside retailers across Ireland began to experience the next generation of gaming, of communication, and of the Digital Lifestyle. A massive launch party in The Vaults at the IFSC introduced Xbox 360 to the entertainment world.
Michael Finucane, Commercial Director of GameStop said "We've had people waiting outside our stores in Henry Street and Arthur Square in Belfast all day. Even though they pre-ordered for the most part, these folks really wanted to just be among the first few to own Xbox 360. Most of them are picking up ALL the launch games on offer as well as wireless controllers, a selection of faceplates and other accessories like the broadband adapter to personalise their new baby. The good news is that even though we're probably going to sell out, we'll have more stock in throughout the month."
Orla Sheridan, Microsoft Home & Entertainment Division Manager, Ireland commented, "It's been an amazing evening, and we could not have wished for a better start for Xbox 360. Speaking to the fans who have come to join us for this special evening, I've been really excited about how Xbox 360 will be received. We're expecting Xbox 360 to be a big hit this Christmas and beyond."
The world's most powerful high-definition video game and entertainment system, Xbox 360 delivers the best games and the next generation of Xbox Live. In addition, as the ultimate digital amplifier in the home, Xbox 360 will enable consumers to connect to digital cameras, portable music players and Windows' XP-based PCs to enjoy integrated entertainment experiences that simply can't be matched.
